Unit B is the last door before the canal, the one with a pink frame and a faint smell of warm PVC. If the door is open, come in. If it's shut, we're cutting a lacquer and will be out in eleven minutes.

Visiting the plant

What to expect

  • A press, mid-hiss.Bertha runs most afternoons. It is loud, warm, and smells faintly of a new shower curtain.
  • Bring a playlist.Phone is fine. June will listen to the first thirty seconds of everything and tell you where side A should end.
  • The reject crate.Seconds sale on Saturdays: £5 each, honour system, tin by the door. Off-centre records sound perfectly fine, they just look drunk.
  • The kettle.Always on. Tea, coffee, and a jar of biscuits Priya insists are for visitors only.

Before you visit

Three things people
ask at the door.

Is there parking?
Two bays outside Unit B, one of which is usually full of pellet sacks. Ledger Lane itself is permit-only until 18:30, and the wardens are quick. The Overground is eight minutes on foot, the 38 bus is four, and there's a bike rack bolted to the wall that has never once been full.
Can I bring kids, or a dog?
Both, with a caveat each. Kids love the swirl and hate the noise, so ear defenders live in a basket by the door in three sizes. Dogs are welcome on a lead and away from the press: the platen runs at 160 °C and Bertha does not look where she's going. The reject crate is at nose height, so expect some interest.
Can I watch a pressing?
Yes, and you should. Bertha runs most afternoons from about two. Email or message us the day before and we'll line yours up so you can watch two pucks of colour go in and one record come out, 28 seconds later. Bring a playlist and you can leave with a side split as well as the memory.
