Formats & Prices

Three sizes.
No wrong answer.

A seven-inch for the song, a twelve-inch for the album, a gatefold box for the year. One price each, nothing hidden behind an asterisk, and the swirl comes free.

The Formats

Wax worth
keeping.

Pick by how long the playlist is, not by how much you love it. We have never met a playlist that was not loved.

Side by side

The same facts,
in a row.

For the people who read the back of the sleeve first. Lead times are from the day you approve the lacquer; Bertha has been known to add a week.

What's included

Everything but
the songs.

Each format is the whole thing, not a base price with a menu of upgrades. Here is what the money buys, in the order it happens.

Mastering for vinyl

Theo tames the low end and the sibilance so the needle stays in the groove. Streaming masters are too hot for wax; we cool them down.

One lacquer cut and one test pressing

You approve the cut as a recording, then hear an actual record before we press the rest. Two chances to say no.

A sleeve printed from your artwork

Send a photo and we duotone it in your two colours, like every image on this site. The Box gets a gatefold, spot varnish and a number.

Shipping that arrives flat

Stiffened mailer, two boards, tracked. Plus a handwritten note about which happy accidents happened to yours.

Not included: the rights to the music. We press personal copies for personal shelves. If you plan to sell them, talk to us about licensing before we cut anything.

Editions

One of one,
or one of fifty.

Two kinds of edition, and nothing in between. Both get a number on the inner sleeve, in pencil, because pencil lasts.

The Single and The LP

One of one

A single record, numbered 1 of 1, signed on the inner by whoever pressed it. Nobody else has this tracklist in this swirl, and nobody ever will. If you want a second copy for a friend, that is a second order and a second swirl.

  • Numbered 1/1 and signed
  • £38 for the Single, £74 for the LP
  • Ships in about six weeks
The Box

Up to fifty copies

From 12 to 50 numbered sets of the same two LPs, for a band, a wedding, a family that argues about tracklists. Same colours, same sleeve, same lacquer. Fifty different swirls, because Bertha does not do identical.

  • Numbered x/50, gatefold, spot-varnished
  • £160 per set, minimum 12 sets
  • Ships in seven to eight weeks
Money questions

The bits people ask
before they pay.

Where do you ship, and what does it cost?
Tracked shipping is included in the price for the UK. The EU is £9 per parcel, tracked, in the same stiffened mailer. Anywhere further is by request: we have sent records to Tokyo, Reykjavik and one very patient person in Hobart, and we will quote you honestly. You can also collect from the plant on Ledger Lane, Wednesday to Saturday, and hear it on our turntable first.
My swirl looks different from the photo. Can I get a refund?
No, and we say that with love. The swirl is different on every record, on purpose, and the photos on this site are of other people's records. What you can expect is the two colours you chose, in roughly the proportions you chose them. If your record is warped, off-centre, skips or has a non-fill, that is a defect, not a swirl, and we press it again at our cost, no argument.
Can you gift-wrap it?
Yes. Four pounds gets you brown kraft paper, a wax seal in one of your two colours, and a handwritten card with whatever you tell us to write, within reason. We leave the invoice out of the parcel and email it to you instead. Around December, order early: June wraps every one herself and she is not fast.
I need 200 copies for my band. Can you do bulk?
Not at 200, sorry. We have one press and she does one record at a time, so the Box tops out at 50 numbered sets and the Single and LP are one-of-one by design. If you need more than 50 we will cheerfully point you to a bigger plant with more machines and fewer opinions. If you need exactly 50 of something special, we are your people.

Pick a size

Your playlist has
a shape.

Under ten minutes, it is a Single. Under forty-four, an LP. Longer than that, or wanted by more than one person, it is a Box. The order form does the maths if you would rather not.
